Rearmament, military cooperation, social policy, international events, and training. These and other plans for 2019 were voiced by Minister of Defence Sergey Shoygu. The first conference call of this year began with the formulation of tasks.

Sergey Shoygu, Minister of Defence: "The Commander-in-Chief paid tribute to our work. He set a number of tasks for the period ahead. First, this year we must continue strengthening the military build-up of strategic nuclear forces. In particular, to re-equip four regiments of the Yars missile system, to begin the deployment of a missile regiment equipped with the latest Avangard system. Also, we must ensure the implementation of the plans to update the Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic bombers and to add the nuclear submarine Knyaz Vladimir of the Borei-A project to the fleet. It's equipped with Bulava ballistic missiles".

The tasks also include improvement of the control and communication system, the execution of state defense orders, the active development of military cooperation with allies, and military training improvement. That's why the large-scale exercises Tsentr-2019, Grom, and Shchit Soyuza will be held this year. Also, traditional international events will be held during the year.

Sergey Shoygu: "An important event of the year will be the fifth International Military-Technical Forum ARMY, which will be held in all military districts and in the Northern Fleet. From August 3rd to August 17th, the next International Army Games will be held, which will be even more extensive in terms of the number of participants and locations. We'll continue the development of the Military Innovation Technopolis ERA and the formation of its unified structure that will allow innovative projects to be fully implemented from the development of concepts to the production of operative and experimental prototypes".

The rearmament of the army will be one of the priorities. By the end of the year, the share of modern weapons and equipment should be 67 percent. The construction of stockpiles, logistics, and retail felling systems will be continued. There will be about 4,200 units of armored and automotive vehicles in service. More than 1.4 trillion ($21 billion) was allocated for these needs within state orders.

Another important issue of discussion was the provision of housing for military personnel. It's expected that with the use of savings and mortgage loans about 25,000 servicemen will be able to buy their own house or an apartment this year.
