IL-20: Putin Promises Retaliation "Everyone Will Notice"

During a joint press conference with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Vladimir Putin once again offered his condolences to the families of the servicemen on board the IL-20 aircraft that was shot down in Syria. He stressed that he personally approved the Ministry of Defense's statement on the matter and added that the retaliatory measures would include boosting security for Russian servicemen in Syria.

Vladimir Putin: "When people die, especially in such unfortunate circumstances, it's always a tragedy, a tragedy for all of us, for the nation, and the loved ones of the people who lost their lives. First of all, I'd like to express my condolences to the loved ones of the deceased.

As for your comparison to the downing of our plane by a Turkish fighter, it was a different situation back then. The Turkish fighter-jet knowingly downed our plane. This time, what happened looks like a chain of tragic circumstances, because the Israeli jet didn't shoot down our plane. However, it goes without saying that we must get to the bottom of this. Our position on this tragedy is outlined in the statement by our Ministry of Defense, which was fully coordinated with me.

As for retaliatory measures, we will focus on boosting security for our servicemen and our facilities in Syria. These will be the steps that everyone will notice".
