Russian Farmers Are on the Way to Taking Over the EU’s Apple Juice Markets

Kaliningrad farmers started exporting apple juice to Europe. The Russian product is in high demand in Poland. The thing is that the apple juice at the European market is so sweet that many customers don't believe it's natural. The juice from Kaliningrad is rather tangy.

Marina Naumova has the details.

At the Kaliningrad Agrofactory, the juice production lines work day and night. They are currently processing the late varieties of apples. This year, the industrial orchards of Kaliningrad had a rich harvest. The factory produced a lot of juice. Kaliningrad started supplying it to St. Petersburg, Moscow, and the EU. Kaliningrad producers decided to come to the European market. The first shipment, 18,000 liters of the natural apple juice was already sent to Poland.

Polish consumers appreciated the taste of the Russian juice and now the factory plans to organize regular shipments. The technologists believe it's all about the slightly sour taste. The European apple juice is too sweet. Many customers don't believe the taste is natural.

Alexander Ivanov, Agrofactory CEO: "We let our partners taste our juice. They told us it was different from the Polish one. It was less sweet and transparent. Our juice is creating a demand on the European market".

The local farmers are planning to export fruit along with the juice. These apples meet all the European requirements.
